My founder's journey
My founder's journey started at my neighborhood dive bar in San Francisco, CA. My friend Lisa was sharing her brilliant idea for a “Broth Bar” - a bar where you could purchase hot, delicious, sustainable broth and add your own toppings (like a Starbucks counter). She described the warmth of the store, the rustic Montana vibes, and the lounge experience that was sure to bring in both the high-tech gurus and the artsy creatives that adorned the streets of San Francisco.
She shared an enthusiastic passion for her idea but, took another swig of her beer, and said
“Yeah, but I have no idea how to make it happen.”
I could smell the salty allspice in the air and wanted desperately to make her dream come true. That evening I typed up an 18-page business plan complete with a Pro-Forma Financial Plan and a vision board with overstuffed leather chairs for her signature landmark location.
I emailed her the business plan at 2:30 am and by 9:00 am the next morning she was in shock and awe. Not only had I documented her vision, but also laid out the pathway forward.
Lisa asked,
“Is this what you do in your corporate job?”
I said,
“Well, sort of. Different versions of that.”
I was a Business Initiatives Manager for a Fortune 100 Firm with responsible for launching major corporate initiatives to drive sales or efficiency. I supported Lines of Business that ranged from 20,000 - 50,000 employees and my day-to-day tasks involved strategic planning, documentation, and communicating messages to executive leaders and team members.
This type of work suited my A-type personality and OCD-level organizational brain, but it never made me want to stay up until 2:30 am preforming it.
Lisa exclaimed,
“Wow, you have a real passion for this.”
She was right. My passion was sharing my skills, knowledge, and innate ability to strategize; however I realized I wanted to direct it to a new target audience. Startups, small business entrepreneurs, and mid-sized companies whom I could create lasting relationships with and launch their brilliant ideas.
I am uniquely qualified to provide business consulting and professional development based on my extensive education and 20+ year of career experience with fortune 100 firms.
I am building the next best consulting firm in the nation to address the diverse needs of small businesses and startups experiencing the pace and overwhelm that is starting a successful business or launching a new career.
